Maycocks Bay third in G3 Mineshaft Stakes

Maycocks Bay produced a battling performance to pick up a first G3 placing in the Mineshaft Stakes at Fair Grounds, USA, on Saturday, 15 February. 

Lining up on the back of finishing fourth in the same course’s G3 Louisiana Stakes, the Michael Stidham-trained colt was pushed along leaving the stalls to establish an early length lead over his seven rivals. 

Komorebino Omoide halved Maycocks Bay’s lead with three furlongs left before moving up to head the Godolphin colt at the top of the straight. 

Hall Of Fame took second inside the final furlong before getting up to pip Komorebino Omoide on the line, with Maycocks Bay sticking to his task for Ben Curtis in third, two and a quarter lengths behind the front two.
