Minnesinger makes his Group One debut in the Australian Guineas over a mile at Flemington, Australia on Saturday, March 7.

The three-year-old colt, trained by Lee and Anthony Freedman, was collared on the line to go down by a short-half-head to Alpine Eagle in the nine-furlong Group Two Race-Tech Australia Caulfield Autumn Classic at Caulfield on February 28.

He gained an easy success in a mile handicap at Sandown Lake on February 4 and scored by a neck in a Kilmore maiden over an extended seven furlongs on January 4.

Craig Williams partners the son of Lonhro for the first time in the Australian Guineas.

Anthony Freedman commented: "We have accepted Minnesinger for this race for two reasons - the horse has done very well this week and two separate assessments that we have secured both indicate that he should run very well in this race.

"We have been fortunate that Disposition is not running, so we have been able to secure Craig Williams to ride the horse.

"It is a worthwhile gamble, so let's hope he runs very well."

Minnesinger, drawn three, takes on up to 13 other three-year-olds including Alpine Eagle, Flemington Group Three winners Kermadec and Wandjina plus Group Two Sandown Guineas runner-up Stratum Star.
