Moher steps up to Group Three level for the seven-furlong BECK Caulfield Guineas Prelude at Caulfield, Australia, on Saturday, September 26.

The three-year-old Lonhro colt, trained by John O'Shea, has made two appearances in handicaps this season, taking fourth over six and a half furlongs at Bendigo on September 17 and finishing ninth in a six-furlong contest at Sandown on September 2. He won a seven-furlong maiden readily at Seymour in April and was placed on his first two starts the previous month.

John O'Shea commented: "This is a massive jump in grade for Moher, but we have added the blinkers and he is finally at peak fitness.

"He has always given an indication of being a strong talent but this Guineas Prelude will give us a guide as to where he stands in the scheme of things for the spring.

"There will be no excuses for him here. He is fit, he is well, has James McDonald riding from a good barrier draw and a set of blinkers on.

"I am looking for a forward performance from him and to be fair - although this is a Guineas Prelude - the highest rated horse in it is 77, so it hardly rates being a Listed race but the field contains progressive horses just like ours."

Moher, drawn eight, tackles 15 rivals including Golden Slipper fourth Ready For Victory and Flemington Listed winner Bon Aurum.
