Now Globetrotter Doyle is off to Melbourne

James Doyle is to make a flying visit to Caulfield on Saturday to ride the first of Godolphin’s European visitors in Australia this spring — and trainer Charlie Appleby says such visits could become a frequent occurrence.
Doyle has been booked for the Appleby-trained duo, Jungle Cat in the G1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes and Folkswood in the G3 Naturalism Stakes.
Appleby said: “We are fortunate at Godolphin to retain two world class jockeys, who we can send to any country when required. James knows Australian racing well and he has won a G1 on Jungle Cat.”
The trainer hinted that Doyle might be a familiar face in Melbourne by the end of the Spring Carnival as, too, will Derby-winning jockey William Buick.
“I expect William to also be riding there later in the Carnival. We have a big team to run,” added.
Doyle won the G2 Prix Niel aboard Brundtland for Godolphin at Longchamp on Sunday, and then racked up a winning treble at Kempton Park (UK) on Monday.
