Two-year-old colts Inner Circle and Tarquin look to build on exciting debuts when moving up in class in the six-furlong Group Two Pago Pago Stakes at Rosehill Gardens, Australia, on Saturday, March 14.

Inner Circle (John O'Shea/James McDonald) cruised to an easy length and three-quarter success in a five and a half-furlong maiden at the same course on February 25.

Tarquin (John O'Shea/William Buick) ran on gamely to score by a long neck under a hands and heels ride in a Newcastle maiden over an extended six furlongs on February 19.

John O'Shea reported: "Inner Circle is a progressive young colt and seems to have trained on well.

"From gate two, I would expect him to take the box-seat - there is plenty of speed in the race and there is good form out of his first race. Most importantly, he seems very good mentally and I am happy with his progress.

"This is a massive jump in grade but he is a quality colt and this run should lay a good foundation for the rest of his career.

"We have kept Tarquin nice and fresh as he has a big preparation ahead of him with the prospect of running in some distance races in the next fortnight.

"He worked beautifully during the week and is in a good frame of mind. I just want to see him balance up and hit the line late which I am sure he will do.

"He is a quality colt but will be better suited over a little bit further."

Inner Circle and Tarquin, from stall four, line up against seven other two-year-olds including Group Two Silver Slipper sixth Paceman, Rosehill Gardens maiden winner Raphael's Cat and Group Two Skyline Stakes runner-up Odyssey Moon.
