The five-year-old mare, trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, faded to last in the La Troienne Stakes over an extended mile at Churchill Downs on May 6 but ran a better race to finish fourth of five in the nine-furlong Santa Margarita Stakes at Santa Anita on March 19.
Penwith started her 2016 campaign with two easy wins at Gulfstream Park, taking the extended-mile G2 Royal Delta Stakes comfortably by three lengths in February and succeeding cosily in a mile allowance race on January 21.
Joel Rosario, who rode the daughter of Bernardini for the second time in the allowance contest, is back on board Penwith who carries 8st 2lb and breaks from stall six.
Kiaran McLaughlin said: "Penwith has been doing very well and we are hopeful that she is back on form.
"This doesn't look like the toughest G1, so we decided to give her a chance. She won't be the favourite but we hope to get lucky.
"Delaware can be a funny track - some horses love it and some don't - so we hope that she likes it."
Penwith faces five others headed by G1 Cotillion Stakes winner I'm A Chatterbox and G2 Fleur de Lis Handicap scorer Paid Up Subscriber.
