Hauraki steps up to Group Two level for the Cellarbrations Phar Lap Stakes over an extended seven furlongs at Rosehill Gardens, Australia, on Saturday, March 14.

The three-year-old colt, representing John O'Shea, trailed home last of 12 on his Pattern debut in the seven-furlong Group Three CS Hayes Stakes at Flemington, Australia, on Saturday, February 21.

He was sixth in a six and a half-furlong conditions race at Sandown-Hillside on February 7 and posted a pair of victories over seven furlongs, comfortably taking a Randwick handicap on November 8 and readily winning a maiden at Kembla Grange on October 25.

John O'Shea reported: "Hauraki's Melbourne form was poor but his work since returning to Sydney is indicative that he will be more than capable in this race.

"I feel he is nearly back to his best, absolutely flying in track work and this will be a great opportunity for him to get back in the game and lay a foundation for the rest of the autumn."

Hauraki, the mount of James McDonald and drawn on the outside, takes on eight other three-year-olds including Supara, Winx and Wine Tales, who were second, fifth and sixth in the Group Two Surround Stakes.
