Pleasing finale to the British turf season for Godolphin with Prize Money

The 2016 British turf season ended well for Godolphin at Doncaster on Saturday, November 5, as Prize Money won the big handicap, the Betfred November Handicap over a mile and a half, on the final day.

Trained by Saeed bin Suroor, Prize Money came through to lead with three furlongs remaining and ran on gamely for apprentice George Wood, winning by three quarters of a length from Erik The Red in the 15-strong field.

The three-year-old son of Authorized’s time came to 2m 31.42s on the good to firm turf.

Saeed bin Suroor commented: "It was very good for Prize Money to win this big handicap.

"He had run well earlier in the year and deserved this success.

"I am happy with Prize Money and George Wood gave him a good ride.

"Prize Money will come to Dubai for the winter and hopefully he can add to this victory."

Godolphin had also won the first major handicap of the 2016 British turf season, the Betway Lincoln at Doncaster on April 2, through Secret Brief (Charlie Appleby/William Buick).
