Prevalence chased home a gate-to-wire winner in the G3 Maryland Sprint for a second successive year when going down by a length and three-quarters to Super Chow at Pimlico, USA, on Saturday, 18 May.

The Brendan Walsh-trained six-year-old, who had found Straight No Chaser seven and a half lengths too strong in 2023, was rousted leaving the stalls and pressed for the early lead before disputing second on the inside of Jaxon Traveler.

Super Chow strode on after a furlong and never looked in any significant danger afterwards, with Prevalence taking a clear second after being switched out by Irad Ortiz Jr at the top of the straight.

Prevalence continued to rally, drawing away from the rest of the field inside the final furlong, without being able to mount a serious challenge to Super Chow.
