Both Pursuits and Promenades made pleasing debuts in the Group Three Sportingbet Powered By William Hill Blue Diamond Preview over five furlongs at Sandown Hill, Australia on Monday, January 26.

Two-year-old Lonhro filly Pursuits (John O'Shea/Craig Williams), drawn 10, broke well and was held up in eighth of the 15 runners.

She finished well in the final furlong and came through to take third, beaten two lengths by the winner Fontiton, whose time on good turf was 58.13s.

Promenades (John O'Shea/Damian Browne), a half-length further back in fifth, was fastest away from wide stall 13 and disputed the lead before racing in second.

Also by Lonhro, the filly had every chance before being one-paced from the distance.

John O'Shea said: "From the 300-metre mark, Pursuits let down strongly and put in a good performance for her debut race start.

"Promenades began well from an outside gate, rolled forward quickly to join the leaders four wide.

"By the corner, she was one-off the rail and worked home OK. The early effort to get across took its toll, but it was a nice effort in her debut race start."
