Another memorable season for Godolphin in Europe has been recognised with Rebel’s Romance, Notable Speech, Shadow Of Light and Desert Flower eligible for voting in the Cartier Racing Awards.
Recent G1 Breeders’ Cup Turf hero Rebel’s Romance features among the contenders for both Cartier Horse of the Year and Cartier Older Horse. An outstanding season for the six-year-old also included G1 wins in the Dubai Sheema Classic, Champions & Chater Cup and Preis von Europa.
Notable Speech is also in contention for the Cartier Horse of the Year award, in addition to the Cartier Three-Year-Old Colt prize. The Dubawi colt became the first horse in 86 years to win the G1 2,000 Guineas having not raced as a juvenile, and again displayed his electric turn of foot when taking the G1 Sussex Stakes.
Shadow Of Light has strong claims in the Cartier Two-Year-Old colt division following a campaign that saw the Lope de Vega homebred become only the third horse in over a century to win both the G1 Middle Park Stakes and G1 Darley Dewhurst Stakes.
Cartier Two-Year-Old Filly hopeful Desert Flower heads into the winter with a perfect record, with the daughter of Night Of Thunder having stormed to a comprehensive victory in the G1 Fillies’ Mile on her latest start.
Darley stallions are well represented across the eight equine awards, with Economics (Night Of Thunder) and Rosallion (Blue Point) joining Rebel’s Romance and Notable Speech in the Cartier Horse of the Year division.
Members of the public are allowed to vote for their champions in each category, with their opinions, in addition to the views of racing journalists/handicappers and points gained in Pattern races, deciding the winners for each category.
