Moritzburg ran third in the six-furlong Listed Coolmore War Command Rochestown Stakes at Naas, Ireland, on Sunday, May 29.
The two-year-old, also third on debut, was slow into stride and raced last of the five runners as a steady pace was set up front.
Moritzburg, from Michael Halford's stable and partnered by William Buick, went fourth at half-way and was asked to try and challenge passing the two-furlong pole.
He kept on to be third but could not get to grips with the winner Peace Envoy or second Lundy, going down by two and three quarter lengths. The winning time was 1m 13.06s on ground officially described as good.
