Romsdal steps back up in class and trip on his return to turf in the Group Three Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise Stakes over a mile and a half at Newbury, UK, on Saturday, April 18.

The four-year-old colt, trained by John Gosden, made all of the running for a decisive win on his first appearance of 2015 in the 10-furlong Listed 888Sport Magnolia Stakes on Polytrack at Kempton Park on March 28.

He was among Britain's leading three-year-olds in 2014 and ran second, beaten a length and a quarter by Kingston Hill, in the Group One Ladbrokes St Leger over an extended 14 furlongs at Doncaster in September, Britain's final Classic of the year.

Romsdal came third in the premier Classic, the 12-furlong Group One Investec Derby, at Epsom Downs in June and went down by a nose in the Group Three MBNA Chester Vase over half a furlong further at Chester in May.

John Gosden said: "Romsdal has been in good form since his win at Kempton.

"This is obviously a step up in class from his last run and we would not want the ground to dry up too much."

Romsdal, the mount of James Doyle for the first time, tackles seven others including Ladbrokes St Leger fourth Windshear, Royal Ascot handicap winner Arab Spring and Turkish Group Two scorer Pethers Moon.
