Piece Of History maintained the good recent form of three-year-olds trained by Saeed bin Suroor when scoring decisively in a 14-runner mile novice race on Polytrack at Chelmsford City, UK, on the evening Tuesday, 24 July.

The unbeaten Iffraaj colt became the sixth three-year-old to win over a 12-day period for Godolphin’s longest-serving trainer.

Piece Of History followed up his debut success at Leicester on 4 June with a length and three-quarter victory under David Egan.

Saeed bin Suroor commented: “Piece Of History won well at Chelmsford City and is a nice horse, who has improved with each start.

“I think a mile or a mile and a quarter will be his best trip and we will look to win another nice race with him.”

G1 St Leger entry Desert Fire, a Cape Cross colt, won easily when making all to score by 12 lengths over 10 furlongs at Leicester on 19 July, while Major Partnership, Perisher, Bedouin’s Story and Racing Country have also been victorious since July 13.

The trainer added: “Desert Fire is another nice colt. He was impressive at Leicester and we will look to run him in a stronger race on his next appearance.

“The horses are starting to run well at this time of year and we have been very happy with the way they are finishing their races.

“Now we need to see how they get on against better opposition.”
