San Diego is trying to build on a highly promising comeback in the Group Two APN Outdoor Ajax Stakes over seven and a half furlongs at Rosehill Gardens, Australia, on Saturday, March 14.
The four-year-old, trained by John O'Shea, came from last to first when narrowly winning a handicap over just short of seven furlongs at the same course on February 21 - his first start for more than a year.
He made five appearances last season, headed by a close second in the Group Three Jacob Park Norman Robinson Stakes over 10 furlongs at Caulfield in October 2013.
John O'Shea said: "San Diego is making his second start after very long break and it is always a slight issue but he presents really well at home and has been working beautifully.
"He has no weight on his back although up significantly in grade. This is not a very strong version of the Ajax Stakes and he will get a lovely run in transit from barrier two and I am sure he will give a very good account of himself."
San Diego, with Tim Clark up for the first time, races against 10 others including Group Two Apollo Stakes second Ninth Legion, Group Two Villiers Stakes winner Rudy, plus Malavio and Aomen, who were fourth and fifth in the Group Three Liverpool City Cup.
