San Dimas goes for a second consecutive win on the Tapeta of Golden Gate Fields, USA when he steps up to G3 level for the nine-furlong El Camino Real Derby on Saturday, February 13.

The Eoin Harty-trained three-year-old ran on gamely for a half-length success in a mile maiden at the Northern Californian course on January 16.

The son of Hard Spun was third over the same course and distance in another Tapeta maiden in December and ran two encouraging races on turf, finishing fourth at Keeneland and a close third at Arlington Park, both again over a mile in maidens, earlier last year.

San Dimas finished fifth of 11 on debut in a five-furlong maiden on Polytrack at Arlington Park in July, 2015.

Eoin Harty said: "San Dimas is doing very well. He likes the track and the distance won't be a problem.

"There are a couple of horses in the line-up that look better than the rest on paper but, if you take them out, it is anyone's race.

"I would definitely be hopeful of a good run."

He is ridden for the first time on Saturday by Ricardo Gonzalez and drawn six of the 14 runners, who include Frank Conversation, winner of the California Derby last month, and former British runner Kasseopia.
