Scents Blood chasing sweet smell of success in G3 Keisei Hai

Kyoto maiden winner Scents Blood bids to join some notable company with victory in the G3 Keisei Hai at Nakayama, Japan, on Sunday, 19 January.

The two most recent renewals of the 10-furlong contest for three-year-olds have been won by subsequent Classic winners, with 2023 scorer Sol Oriens annexing the Satsuki Sho and Danon Decile following up his win last year with success in the Tokyo Yushun.

Scents Blood makes his seasonal return following three maiden appearances over the same mile and a quarter distance as a juvenile.

Having finished a neck second at Kokura and Chukyo on his first two starts, the Takashi Saito-trained son of Rulership held on for a nose verdict at Kyoto in October.
