Majestic Queen was the runner-up for the second year running in the Group Three Irish Stallion Farms EBF Brownstown Stakes at Fairyhouse, Ireland, on Sunday, July 5.

The Tracey Collins-trained five-year-old mare, giving weight all round, raced prominently under James Doyle among the seven runners from the start.

She was a close third on the outside and moved up to challenge the leader after turning into the straight.

Majestic Queen led inside the final quarter-mile but was headed with a half-furlong remaining by the winner Ainippe who scored by one and a half lengths in 1m 27.12s.

The Godolphin runner kept on to finish three quarters of length ahead of the dead-heaters for third, long-time leader Queen Nefertiti and Slipper Orchid.

Tracey Collins remarked: "I am pleased that Majestic Queen ran well but disappointed that she didn't win.

"It would have been better if there had been more pace in the race and might have led to a different result.

"The main aim is the Prix Maurice De Gheest (Group One, six and a half furlongs. Deauville, France, August 9) and that trip should suit her."
