Shards is out to return to form in the Group Two Dyldam Stan Fox Stakes over seven and a half furlongs at Rosehill Gardens, Australia, on Saturday, September 26.

The three-year-old colt, trained by John O'Shea, never got into the race when seventh behind stable companion Exosphere in the seven-furlong Group One De Bortoli Wines Golden Rose Stakes at the same course on September 12.

Shards made a winning reappearance in the Group Three Up And Coming Stakes over six and a half furlongs at Royal Randwick on August 22, running on strongly to get up close home. The son of Medaglia d'Oro ran three times last season and ended the campaign with a handicap win over just shy of seven furlongs at Rosehill Gardens in June.

John O'Shea said: "Shards looks to have bounced back from a very disappointing performance in the Golden Rose Stakes and presents into this race following a good fortnight.

"We will be nice and positive from gate one to lead or sit outside the lead, and hope that he can get himself back in the game.

"I cannot fault his preparation going into this race and hopefully he can replicate how good he is going at home by performing well again on raceday."

Shards, ridden for the third time by Sam Clipperton, takes on five others with Rageese and Press Statement, who were fourth and fifth in the Golden Rose Stakes, set to provide the main opposition.
