First Victory took the step up to G3 company in her stride with an impressive display in the Vision Oh So Sharp Stakes over seven furlongs at Newmarket, UK, on Friday, October 9.

The Saeed bin Suroor-trained juvenile, a debut winner over the same course and distance on September 26, broke smartly and soon disputed the running under William Buick.

She quickened strongly to take a clear advantage inside the final furlong before staying on gamely to score by a length over Alamode in 1m 26.39s on ground described as good to soft, good in places.

Saeed bin Suroor commented: "First Victory is improving all of the time and that is why we kept her back for the end of the season. It was only 13 days since she won her maiden but she worked really well earlier in the week, which gave us the confidence to run her again.

"She showed a good turn of foot today and has always shown some class in the mornings. She is a quiet, happy filly and that is always a good sign.

"She needs to improve physically over the winter but, hopefully, she will be ready for the 1,000 Guineas back here in the spring."

William Buick added: "First Victory has plenty of size about her and will be a very nice filly for next year. She has a great mind and it was a very good performance."
