Silver Knott continued his unbeaten year in North America as he lowered the 11-furlong course record at Saratoga with a dominant display in the G2 Bowling Green Stakes on Sunday, 28 July.
The Charlie Appleby-trained four-year-old was conceding weight to all four of his rivals having already posted G2 wins this season in Keeneland’s Elkhorn Stakes and the Man o’War Stakes at Aqueduct.
Quickly into his stride, Silver Knott was sent on into a length advantage over Ohana Honor. Strong Tide moved up to dispute second with three furlongs to race and was pushed along to try and challenge Silver Knott, who still appeared full of running at the top of the straight.
Silver Knott drew away from the field soon after and streaked further clear inside the final furlong, with Flavien Prat easing his mount close home for a cosy two-and-a-half-length verdict.
Flavien Prat said: “Silver Knott jumped well out of the gate and I didn’t want to get trapped in a slow race. We got an easy lead and then a bit of pressure, but he was doing it very easily on the front and responded well when I asked him again.
“I’m obviously very grateful for the opportunity that Charlie and the whole team at Godolphin have given me. I try to do the best I can.”
