Two-year-old colts Steady Pace and Log Out Island bid for a first Pattern success in the Group Two Qatar Richmond Stakes over six furlongs at Goodwood, UK, on Thursday, July 30.
Steady Pace (Saeed bin Suroor/James Doyle) quickened well to take second, beaten a length by Shalaa, in the Group Two Arqana July Stakes over the same distance at Newmarket on July 9.
He started with three appearances over five furlongs and was third in both the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 16 and the Listed Cantor Fitzgerald Debt Capital Markets National Stakes at Sandown Park on May 28.
The son of Dark Angel made an impressive debut with an easy win in an Ascot maiden on May 9.
Log Out Island (Richard Hannon/William Buick), also by Dark Angel, went down by four lengths when third in the Group Two GAIN Railway Stakes over six furlongs at the Curragh, Ireland on June 27.
He ran a better race to take second, beaten half a length by Waterloo Bridge, in the five-furlong Group Two Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 18 and stormed to a comprehensive victory over the same course and distance on April 29.
Saeed bin Suroor said: "Steady Pace ran well to finish second at Newmarket last time and came out of that race in good form.
"His latest piece of work went very well and this trip suits him. He is ready to go."
Richard Hannon commented: "Log Out Island did not reproduce his excellent run from Royal Ascot when we took him to Ireland for the Railway Stakes, but the race probably came a bit quick and he is definitely better than that.
"On his Norfolk form, he would have a strong chance here, although it looks a hot race with the July Stakes winner and the Coventry runner-up in there."
Steady Pace and Log Out Island face seven other juveniles headed by Shalaa, Coventry Stakes runner-up Air Force Blue and Arqana July Stakes third Elronaq.
