Steady Pace ran another sound race to finish third in the Group Two Qatar Richmond Stakes over six furlongs at Goodwood, UK, on Thursday, July 30.
The Saeed bin Suroor-trained juvenile showed good early speed for James Doyle to race a close third before joining Shalaa at the head of the eight-strong field after the first quarter-mile.
They continued to dispute the running until Shalaa powered clear a furlong and a half from home, with Tasleet quickening well to pass Steady Pace approaching the final half-furlong.
Steady Pace kept on to go down by four lengths in total to Shalaa, who won impressively in 1m 10.82s on good ground.
The other Godolphin runner, Log Out Island (Richard Hannon/William Buick), was bumped at the start and raced towards the rear. He made progress two furlongs out but could find no more in the final furlong and dropped back to finish seventh.
John Ferguson, bloodstock advisor to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, Godolphin's founder and driving force, commented: "We are delighted with Steady Pace. He has run another very good race and will probably step up to seven furlongs next time.
"We had to drop Log Out Island in today to help him settle. We will probably bring him back to five furlongs because, two furlongs out, William felt he had a chance, but he did not get home."
