Strong prospects in Darley Scone Cup

The in-form pair Duca Valentinois and Moher shape as a formidable Godolphin combination in Friday’s Listed Darley Scone Cup.

Duca Valentinois (Darren Beadman/Michael Dee) indicated he was in for a useful preparation at his first run back when second to Kellyville Flyer on a heavy track at Randwick last month before going down from a wide gate at his most recent outing in the Hawkesbury Cup.

“The draw is the key to this horse. He had a torrid run at Hawkesbury, but he should be able to get nice cover from a good gate here,” said trainer Darren Beadman.

“The run has brought him on nicely and I think he’ll certainly look the winner at some stage.”

Stablemate Moher (Darren Beadman/Kerrin McEvoy) also has the benefit of two runs this time in, the latest resulting in an impressive second in the same Hawkesbury race two weeks ago.

“His run was a beauty in the same race as Duca Valentinois the other day,” Beadman said.

“He ran up to win a race that was run at a very solid speed. He’s cherry ripe and he’s going to be hard to beat.”

The Godolphin pair appear to be among the leading chances in the capacity field for the 1600m race which also includes the Hawkesbury Cup winner Fabrizio.
