Dutch Connection ran another excellent race at Ascot, UK, when coming home second in the G2 Fred Cowley MBE Memorial Summer Mile on Saturday, July 9.

The Charlie Hills-trained colt, successful in the G3 Jersey Stakes on his only previous visit to the course last year, was slightly slow into his stride and soon raced in ninth of the 10 runners under George Baker.

He travelled strongly into the race down the inside rail passing the two-furlong pole and quickened smartly to challenge for the lead a furlong and a half from home.

Dutch Connection held every chance until Mutakayyef quickened clear approaching the final half-furlong and kept on in the closing stages to go down by two and a quarter lengths.

Mutakayyef won in 1m 40.88s on ground described as good to firm, good in places.

Charlie Hills commented: "It was a fantastic run by Dutch Connection. He raced like a horse who will be best suited to seven furlongs and we will now look at the Lennox Stakes (G2, Goodwood, July 26), together with some potential options in North America."
