Hawkesbury steps back up to Group Three level for the Doom Bar Supreme Stakes over seven furlongs at Goodwood on Sunday, August 30.

The Charlie Appleby-trained three-year-old was last seen out when going down by a half-length to Russian Realm in a seven-furlong conditions race at Thirsk on July 31.

Hawkesbury recorded his second victory of 2015 when taking a seven-furlong conditions contest on the line by a nose at Haydock Park on July 18.

His only previous start in Group Three company saw him finish sixth to Limato in the Merriebelle Stable Pavilion Stakes over six furlongs at Ascot in April.

Charlie Appleby said: "Hawkesbury has been a consistent horse for us this season and we feel he deserves to have another crack at a Group Three.

"He goes there in good order but we will keep an eye on the ground because soft going is not ideal. Hopefully, it will dry out a bit."

Hawkesbury, ridden by William Buick, is due to face seven rivals, headed by dual Group Two winners Ivawood and Here Comes When, plus Betfred Mile victor So Beloved.

Godolphin has won the Supreme Stakes with Firebreak (2002) and Lockwood (2013).
