Sweynesse steps back up in class and trip for the mile Group One Girvan Waugh Randwick Guineas at Royal Randwick, Australia on Saturday, March 7.
The three-year-old colt came with a strong late run to finish second, beaten a half-neck by Hallowed Crown, on his first start of 2015 in the Group Two Blackwoods CRC Hobartville Stakes over seven furlongs at Rosehill Gardens on February 21.
John O'Shea's charge went down by less than two lengths when eighth in the 10-furlong Group One Sportingbet Cox Plate at Moonee Valley on October 25 and was third over the same trip in the Group One Moet & Chandon Spring Champion at Royal Randwick on October 11.
Sweynesse started his career with four straight victories including Group Three wins in the nine-furlong Gloaming Stakes at Rosehill Gardens on September 27 and the mile Coca-Cola Spring Stakes at Newcastle on September 17.
James McDonald, who rode Sweynesse in the Blackwoods CRC Hobartville Stakes, partners the son of Lonhro again.
John O'Shea said: "Sweynesse presents into this race in wonderful order and his fitness has improved dramatically.
"He has drawn awkwardly in the outside gate. Hopefully, he won't have to go too far back to get in but that may compromise his winning chances if he ends up behind an outsider.
"If James McDonald can find one of the good horses to bring us into the race, Sweynesse will be right in the finish as he is getting out to his preferred distance of a mile to 2,000 metres."
Sweynesse opposes five others including Hallowed Crown and Group One Caulfield Guineas winner Shooting To Win.
