Tally Primed For Alister Clark

The timing is right, so is the distance, and the formcard could hardly offer more support for the prospects of Tally in the G2 Alister Clark Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday, March 18.

The timing is right, so is the distance, and the formcard could hardly offer more support for the prospects of Tally in the G2 Alister Clark Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday, March 18.

One of the most consistent members of Godolphin's Australian stable, Tally (John O'Shea/Craig Williams) has scored four wins and two placings from his eight starts.

"Everything we've asked of him this time in has been delivered," said trainer John O'Shea.

"He stepped up to Group Two level last start and won with authority.

"He's three-from-three this preparation and this race comes along at the right time for him."

Tally brought up his third successive victory in last month's Autumn Classic at Caulfield and now steps up to the 2040m at Moonee Valley, the scene of his previous victory.

Craig Williams, who rode the son of Street Cry at Caulfield said Tally had the scope to make further improvement as his preparation continues.

"He put them away very decisively last time out, I thought it was the performance of a horse with a lot further to go in his career," Williams said.

Tally has been a permanent member of O'Shea's Melbourne operation and is likely to remain there for a while yet.

"We'll see how he comes through Friday night's race and decide then which way we go," the trainer said.

Tally's opposition in the Alister Clark includes Palentino, the winner of the G1 Australian Guineas at his most recent start.
