The growing strength of Godolphin's latest crop of Australian two-year-olds will be further assessed when Tessera runs in the G3 Canonbury Stakes at Randwick on Saturday, January 30.
A new name has been added to the list of the stable's juvenile winners almost every week for the past month with Tessera 's having been written two weeks ago when he scored on debut at Randwick.
This time, Tessera (John O'Shea/James McDonald) is the only winner in a field of eight that includes a number of colts with good reputations.
"He's come on nicely since his first run which was a very good effort," O'Shea said.
"It's only a small field on Saturday and some that are supposed to be quite smart.
But Tessera has won, he's shown he can do it."
O'Shea said he was impressed with Tessera's ability to show speed from the gates and then display a lot of fight at the finish of his only race.
"I think he's improved on that, so that should give him his chance," he said.
Tessera has drawn the inside gate which should give him every opportunity to again dictate the terms of the race. He also has the advantage of being proven on a rain-affected track which is again likely at Randwick.
The son of Medaglia D'Oro is out of the Flying Spur mare Chatoyant who won four races for the stable in Sydney.
Chatoyant has had four foals to race, all of them having won, including the good G3 winner Montsegur from a mating with New Approach.
