Silver Knott rallied late after meeting trouble in running to take third in the G2 Secretariat Stakes at Colonial Downs, USA, on Saturday, 12 August.
Dropping back to a mile after finishing fifth in the G1 Belmont Derby, the Charlie Appleby-trained colt was a little awkward leaving the stalls and raced in fourth initially before moving up a place on the inside rail entering the first turn.
Northern Invader and Gigante shuffled Silver Knott back to a close fifth turning in and the Godolphin three-year-old was squeezed for room over a furlong out, forcing Jamie Spencer to briefly check his challenge. Silver Knott stayed on after finding daylight, taking third from Major Dude on the line.
