Third, fourth, fifth and sixth for Godolphin in Dubai Gold Cup

Rare Rhythm, Frontiersman, Gold Star and Red Galileo ran well in the G2 Dubai Gold Cup over two miles on fast turf to occupy third to sixth places on Dubai World Cup Night, Saturday, 31 March, at Meydan, UAE.
Rare Rhythm (Charlie Appleby/William Buick), a six-year-old son of Dubawi, came from off the pace after racing in 10th of the 16 runners for much of the race.
He finished well on the outside in the straight but could not match the turn of foot of the winner Vazirabad, successful for the third year running, and just lost out for second by a neck to Sheikhzayedroad, who was a length adrift at the post.
Frontiersman (Charlie Appleby/James Doyle) soon took the lead and set a strong pace, closely followed by Red Galileo (Saeed bin Suroor/Gerald Mosse), the pair clear for much of the race.
The five-year-old Dubawi horse looked like he might hold on in the straight but was swamped in the final furlong, finishing a length behind Rare Rhythm, while Red Galileo was one-paced.
Gold Star (Saeed bin Suroor/Jim Crowley) moved up to third entering the straight after having raced in sixth, but he could not find extra in the closing stages.
A new track record of 3m 17.92s was achieved by Vazirabad.
Charlie Appleby explained: “Rare Rhythm and Frontiersman have both run well and I am delighted with their performances.
“James has gone a decent clip on Frontiersman and it has probably told over the last 200 metres.
“The winner is a good horse and (his trainer) Alain de Royer-Dupre knows how to get the job done!
“I thought Rare Rhythm got the trip well enough and hopefully this sets them both up for Cup races back in Europe during the summer.”
