Toscanini races over five furlongs for the first time in the Group Two Derrinstown Stud Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh, Ireland, on Sunday, September 13.
The Michael Halford-trained three-year-old has been a close second in Group Three races over six furlongs at the same course on his latest two starts.
He was headed near the line to go down by three-quarters of a length to Moviesta in the Gerrardstown House Stud Stakes on August 22 and lost out by a short-head to Mattmu in the Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club Phoenix Sprint Stakes on August 9.
The son of Shamardal kept on well for a neck success in a Naas conditions race over the same distance on July 8 and came home a close fifth in the seven-furlong Group Three Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 17.
Toscanini ran two excellent races at the Curragh last year, chasing home Gleneagles in the seven-furlong Group One Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes and going down by a half a length to Dick Whittington in the Group Three Jebel Ali Racecourse & Stables Anglesey Stakes over slightly less.
Michael Halford commented: "Toscanini has never run over five furlongs before but the way he travels in his races suggests that he will be fine over the trip.
"He has run very well at the Curragh on his two most recent starts and is in great order at the moment."
Toscanini, with James Doyle up for the third time, tackles 11 rivals including Moviesta, five-time Group One winner Sole Power and French Group One scorer Maarek.
