Toscanini finished third in the seven-furlong G2 Friarstown Stud Minstrel Stakes at the Curragh, Ireland, on Sunday, July 17.
The four-year-old son of Shamardal tried to make all the running under James Doyle but was headed inside the final furlong and could find no extra in the closing stages.
Toscanini, trained by Michael Halford, managed to hold onto third by a head from Adaay.
Gordon Lord Byron succeeded by a half-length from Sovereign Debt who was a length and a quarter in front of Toscanini. The winner' time came to 1m 23.30s.
Michael Halford remarked afterwards: "Toscanini ran a solid race and might not just have seen out the seven furlongs on this stiff track.
"It was a good effort to finish third in a G2 and he might get seven furlongs better on a more turning or easier track or else we will revert to a stiff six-furlongs."
