Tower of London goes for G3 honours in Japan’s Arlington Cup

Highly-promising three-year-old colt Tower Of London drops down to G3 company for the Arlington Cup over a mile at Hanshin, Japan, on Saturday, 14 April.

The son of Raven’s Pass, trained by Kazuo Fujosawa and ridden by Christophe Lemaire, ran an excellent race to finish third over the same course and distance on his latest appearance in the G1 Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes in December.

Tower Of London has won on three of his five starts, including an impressive display in the seven-furlong G2 Keio Hai Ni Sai at Tokyo in November, when he ran on strongly to score by two lengths.

He faces 12 rivals in the Arlington Cup including G3 Mainichi Hai third Indy Champ, dual Kyoto winner Pax Americana plus course and distance scorer Air Almas.

Harry Sweeney, President of Godolphin in Japan, commented: “Tower of London has been training really well and his trainer is very pleased with him. If he pleases in this race, he will be aimed at the G1 NHK Mile on 6 May.

“However, there is still a significant doubt as to whether he stays a mile. We believe that he can also be very effective over six and seven furlongs, but there are very few opportunities at these distances in Japan.”
