Trawlerman returns to the scene of his biggest success to date as he looks to capture the G2 British Champions Long Distance Cup for a second time at Ascot on Saturday, 19 October.

The son of Golden Horn rallied strongly to beat top stayer Kyprios by a neck in the two-mile contest 12 months ago, with the duo pulling 13 lengths clear of this season’s G2 Doncaster Cup winner Sweet William in third.

Trawlerman has made two subsequent appearances for John & Thady Gosden, finishing third in the G2 Dubai Gold Cup in March before going down by a length to Kyprios when filling the runner-up spot in the G1 Gold Cup at Royal Ascot.

Thady Gosden said: “Trawlerman ran a great race in the Gold Cup and has enjoyed a nice break since. He won this race last year and heading back has been the plan for quite some time. He likes Ascot and should enjoy conditions again.”
