True Story & Be Ready Seek Singspiel Prize

True Story and Be Ready return to action in the Listed Singspiel Stakes Presented By Longines Conquest Classic Gents over nine furlongs on turf at Meydan, UAE, on Thursday, January 8.

Both four-year-olds are trained by Saeed bin Suroor, with True Story stepping down in class and trip after a fine half-length second to multiple Group One winner Al Kazeem in the 10-furlong Group Three 188Bet Winter Hill Stakes at Windsor, UK, on August 23.

The son of Manduro was fifth in the Group One Coral-Eclipse, also over a mile and a quarter, at Sandown Park in July and come home seventh in the 12-furlong Group One Investec Derby at Epsom Downs in June.

He stayed on to finish a close third behind The Grey Gatsby in the Group Two Betfred Dante Stakes over an extended mile and a quarter at York in May and gained a comprehensive victory in a nine-furlong Newmarket Listed contest on his first appearance of 2014.

Be Ready was diagnosed with an atrial fibrillation after disappointing on his only start of last year in the Group Three Novae Bloodstock Insurance Craven Stakes over a mile at Newmarket on April 17.

The New Approach colt stormed to an easy win in a seven-furlong Listed contest at Doncaster in September, 2013, and was runner-up on his debut in another Listed race over the same distance at Newbury the previous month.

James Doyle partners True Story, with Dane O'Neill in the saddle on Be Ready.

Saeed bin Suroor commented: "True Story has done well in Dubai and is more settled since he was gelded.

"He is in good form and is ready to go. This trip will suit him and I hope that he can run well.

"Be Ready is making his first start since April and he will need the race. He has been working nicely but I expect him to improve for the run."

True Story and Be Ready face seven rivals including last year's winner Mushreq, four-time Group One scorer Meandre and Dubai World Cup seventh Sanshaawes.
