Tryster bids for a sixth straight win on his return to turf in the Group Three Cantor Fitzgerald Research Brigadier Gerard Stakes over 10 furlongs at Sandown Park, UK, on Thursday, May 28.

The Charlie Appleby-trained four-year-old was crowned Horse of the Year for the 2014/2015 All-Weather Championships following a faultless campaign, including an easy success in the valuable Coral Easter Classic over a mile and a quarter on Polytrack at Lingfield Park on April 3.

He also scored over 10 furlongs at Lingfield Park in the Group Three Coral.co.uk Winter Derby on March 14, when he flew home from the rear for another impressive victory, and completed a hat-trick of handicap wins when readily taking a 10-furlong Polytrack contest at Kempton Park on March 4.

The son of Shamardal made three appearances, all on turf, last year and enjoyed by a five-length success in a Brighton maiden.

William Buick, who partnered Tryster to glory in the Coral Easter Classic, takes the ride again.

Charlie Appleby commented: "Purposely, we gave Tryster a break after his win on All-Weather Championships Finals Day and he has freshened up well.

"We have been able to get him on the grass gallops at Moulton Paddocks and the most encouraging sign is that his stride pattern hasn't changed from working on a synthetic surface - he works just about as well on turf as he did on the all-weather.

"It's a punchy race and we will be a bit wiser afterwards regarding where to go with Tryster for the rest of the turf season.

"Hopefully, he can run a big race and we can look at the Prince Of Wales's Stakes (G1, 10f, Royal Ascot, June 17) and, if he doesn't, then we can review things and change our goals for him over the coming months."

Tryster takes on five rivals including Newbury Group Three winner Arab Spring, dual Group Three course & distance victor Western Hymn and King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes fourth Eagle Top.

Godolphin has won the Brigadier Gerard Stakes with Sights On Gold (2003) and Sharestan (2014).
