Vashka makes a first appearance at Group Two level in the Theo Marks Stakes over six & a half furlongs at Rosehill Gardens, Australia, on Saturday, September 12.

The John O'Shea-trained five-year-old went down by a neck and a nose when third on his seasonal return in the Group Three SKY Thoroughbred Central Show County Quality over six furlongs at Royal Randwick on August 22.

He was 10th in the six-furlong Group Three Ticketek Hall Mark Stakes at Royal Randwick in April and previously racked up five straight wins in handicap company, including four easy victories at Rosehill Gardens between six and a half and an extended seven furlongs.

John O'Shea reported: "Vashka has a terrific record at Rosehill and wonderful second-up stats as well as a good weight and good barrier draw.

"He will roll forward from an outside gate and will end up outside Strawberry Boy. So long as there is not too much attacking speed he will race very competitively.

"He has trained on dramatically since his first-up run and still has significant improvement to come on whatever he does here but I couldn't be happier with him."

Joao Moreira rides Vashka (drawn six), who lines up against 13 rivals including Group One Queensland Oaks heroine Winx, Group Two runner-up Messene and Group Three winner Strawberry Boy.
