Wholeness took another step forward in her burgeoning career with a valiant third in the G1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Kyoto, Japan, on Sunday, 10 November.
The Lope de Vega four-year-old was making her first top-level appearance for Hideaki Fujiwara having won four of her six previous starts, including taking the Listed Niigata Himba Stakes on her most recent appearance.
Drawn on the inside of the 17 runners, Wholeness was quickly into her stride and soon settled in fifth on the rail, some five lengths behind the pace-setting Conch Shell.
Stunning Rose took up the running with a quarter of a mile to race and soon took control, with Wholeness staying on strongly to press Shinryokuka for second entering the final furlong.
Wholeness continued to find for Ryusei Sakai as Ravel went second in the final strides, gamely seeing off Shinryokuka, Regaleira and Lilac for third.
