Street Cry was top class on dirt; trained by Eoin Harty at two, he ended his juvenile campaign with a fine third in the 2000 Breeders' Cup Juvenile at Churchill Downs; he won the UAE 2,000 Guineas (beating Noverre) on first start for Saeed bin Suroor as a 3yo, before a narrow defeat in the UAE Derby; he returned to Nad Al Sheba at four to win the Group 2 Sheikh Maktoum Challenge R2, but enjoyed his finest hour with a dominant display to win the 2002 Grade 1 Dubai World Cup by four and a half lengths; followed this with another convincing Grade 1 win in the Stephen Foster Handicap at Churchill Downs and ended his career by finishing runner-up in the Grade 1 Whitney Handicap at Saratoga; he was very effective over 1m-1m2f on a fast dirt surface
