Famous Kid finished well to beat stable companion Ahzeemah in the IPIC Trophy Handicap over 14 furlongs on grass at Meydan, UAE to provide Godolphin with a second success on the evening of Thursday, February 5.

Both horses are trained for Godolphin by Saeed bin Suroor and there was three quarters of a length between them at the line.

Four-year-old Street Cry colt Famous Kid (8st 6lb) was slightly slow into stride under William Buick from the outside 13 stall and moved up to settle in mid-division as joint top-weight Ahzeemah (9st 6lb), with James Doyle up, raced a close second with a steady pace set in front.

Famous Kid made progress to go fourth entering the straight and he challenged Ahzeemah, who had gone to the front with more than two furlongs remaining, below the distance.

Soon taking over the advantage from the six-year-old son of Dubawi, Famous Kid ran on well to win in 2m 59.81s.

Saeed bin Suroor said: "Famous Kid did it well but had the advantage of a previous run while Ahzeemah will have needed the race."

William Buick added: "We got a good pitch and Famous Kid relaxed well. It turned into a four-furlong sprint but he has got a good kick and picked up very well.

"He saw it out to the line. It was his first try over a mile and six furlongs and I am not sure he will stay any further than this.

"He is going the right way, beat a competitive field here and has not done a lot wrong so far."
