Mysterious Night chased home Marbaan at Meydan for a second time this year in the G3 Ras Al Khor on Friday, 7 March.

The duo were reopposing over the same seven-furlong trip having finished 1-2 in January’s G2 Al Fahidi Fort, in which Mysterious Night had gone down by a length on his first start in more than six months.

Settled in fifth, Mysterious Night had to wait to deliver his challenge in the straight as Khanjar penned the Charlie Appleby-trained runner on the inside rail.

Mysterious Night quickened after William Buick found room over a furlong out, by which point Marbaan had taken up the running.

The Godolphin five-year-old grabbed second from Echo Point inside the final furlong but was unable to close on Marbaan, who held on to score by two and a quarter lengths.
