Progressive four-year-old Basem makes his Pattern debut in the Group Three Strensall Stakes over nearly nine furlongs at York, UK, on Saturday, August 22.
The Saeed bin Suroor-trained colt ran on strongly after missing the break to come home fourth in the £150,000 Betfred Mile, a heritage handicap at Goodwood on July 31.
He gained a pair of valuable handicap wins over a mile at Sandown Park, battling well to score by half a length on July 14 and getting up near the line for a neck success on June 13.
Saeed bin Suroor said: "Basem really needs softer ground and any rain would help him.
"He deserves a chance in a Group race and has been working well."
Basem, with James Doyle up, takes on 10 rivals including Group One runner-up Top Notch Tonto, Listed winners Mahsoob and Modialiste, and Royal Hunt Cup scorer GM Hopkins.
Naheef (2003), Echo Of Light (2006 & 2007), Rio De La Plata (2010), Dubai Prince (2012) and City Style (2013) have won the Strensall Stakes for Godolphin.
