Sentiero Italia steps up to Grade One company in the Belmont Oaks Invitational over 10 furlongs on turf at Belmont Park, USA, on Saturday, July 4.
The improving three-year-old Medaglia d´Oro filly, who is trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, has made three appearances.
On her latest outing on May 28, she was the impressive two-length winner of a mile turf allowance race at Belmont Park. She landed a nine-furlong turf maiden at Aqueduct in comfortable fashion on April 19 and made her debut at Gulfstream Park on March 11, when she came home a staying-on seventh in an extended seven-furlong turf maiden.
Luis Saez, who has partnered Sentiero Italia to both her victories, takes the ride again.
Kiaran McLaughlin said: "Sentiero Italia has really come on strongly and she is a very nice filly.
"Her last two races have been really impressive so we have taken the decision to step up to Grade One level with her.
"It is going to be a tough race and, with 14 runners, we have to hope we work out a good trip.
"We feel that she belongs in a race like this and deserves to take her chance."
The Belmont Oaks Invitational has attracted 13 other starters including Grade One Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies' Turf winner Lady Eli, Grade One American Oaks scorer Spanish Queen, French Group Three winner Olorda and Outstanding, successful in Listed company in Ireland.
Sentiero Italia is drawn towards the outside in stall 11.
