Godolphin trainer Hugo Palmer has ruled Best Of Days out of the G1 Investec Derby at Epsom on June 3.
The colt completed a piece of work at Newmarket on Friday that impressed the trainer but not enough to go to Epsom.
"Epsom is going to come too soon for him," Palmer said. "He won't be ready in time," he pointed out.
Palmer had expressed the view last week that Best Of Days, winner of last year's G2 Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket, would need every single day available to be primed for Epsom.
He even took the colt to Epsom's 'Breakfast With The Stars' on Tuesday, in which he had a spin around the unique course in the company of the Charlie Appleby-trained Swiss Derby winner, Kidmenever.
