Buick gets green light for Saturday comeback at Ascot

Godolphin jockey William Buick is set make a return to the saddle at Ascot on Saturday, eight weeks to the day that he suffered a serious spinal injury in a fall in Chicago. Buick has received medical clearance for his comeback, which will be aboard the brilliant Blue Point in the G3 John Guest Bengough Stakes.
‘I am very relieved to have been passed fit to return to race riding this weekend after my consultation with the specialist last night. I have been keeping fit in the gym and riding out for a few weeks and I feel great. There is a lot of the season left, both domestically and internationally and there are plenty of nice horses that I look forward to riding.
I am thankful for the support of a lot of people, especially His Highness Sheikh Mohammed and his family as well as the doctors and physiotherapists that have helped me with my recovery.’
Buick fractured his T12 vertebrae in a fall from the ill-fated Permian after crossing the line in the G1 Secretariat Stakes.
