Bunbury Cup third for Steady Pace

Steady Pace was collared near the line to come home a close third in the Bunbury Cup Handicap over seven furlongs at Newmarket, UK, on Saturday, July 15.
The Saeed bin Suroor-trained four-year-old, runner-up over a furlong shorter in the Wokingham Handicap at Royal Ascot on June 24, raced prominently early on and moved up to dispute the running with half a mile to race.
Steady Pace kicked clear of his 17 rivals for Josephine Gordon over a furlong from home but was caught by Above The Rest and Sir Dancealot in the dying strides to go down by half a length and a neck.
Saeed bin Suroor commented: “Steady Pace ran another good race and we might drop him back to six furlongs now for the Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood (August 5).”
