Cavallo Bay grabs third in G3 With Anticipation Stakes

Two-year-old colt Cavallo Bay picked up a G3 placing on his US debut as he snatched third on the line in the With Anticipation Stakes at Saratoga, USA, on Thursday, 29 August.

Stepping up in class on the back of two novice wins in the UK, the son of Pinatubo broke on terms and soon raced in fourth on the outside of Zulu Kingdom as Nudge and Tenacious Leader led the six runners.

Cavallo Bay moved up to dispute third leaving the back and was switched widest of all by Dylan Davis turning for home.

Zulu Kingdom snuck up the inside rail in the straight, taking up the running from Nudge and a rallying Tenacious Leader entering the final furlong to score by a neck in the extended-mile contest.

The Charlie Appleby-trained Cavallo Bay stayed on in the closing stages, collaring Nudge for third in the final stride to go down by just over three lengths in total.
