Creative Force third in G3 Abernant Stakes

Creative Force produced a late rally to take third on his five-year-old return in the G3 Abernant Stakes at Newmarket, UK, on Thursday, 20 April.

Having tracked the leaders in fourth, the 2021 G1 British Champions Sprint victor was slightly outpaced approaching the final furlong as Garrus and Commanche Falls took up the running towards the far rail.

Creative Force rallied under William Buick to go third with half a furlong to race and stuck to his task well in the closing strides, going down by a length in total behind Garrus.

Charlie Appleby said: “They went steady and it turned into a little bit of a burn-up, with the far-side runners getting the jump on Creative Force. Our horse had nothing to race with and had to pick up on his own, but take nothing away from the winner, who has been knocking on the door.

“We will probably look at taking Creative Force to York next month for the G2 1895 Duke Of York Stakes.”
