Easy G2 victory for Hemsworth in Nashua

Hemsworth made all to win the G2 Nashua Stakes impressively over a mile on dirt at Aqueduct, New York, USA on Friday, November 4.
The two-year-old Bernardini colt, trained by Tom Albertrani and partnered by Antonio Gallardo, soon took the lead after two of his three opponents stumbled emerging from the stalls.
Hemsworth was four lengths clear entering the straight and increased his advantage by the line to nine and a half lengths over the runner-up Han Sense.
His time for the first two furlongs was 24.37s, with 47.94s for the half-mile, 1m 12.85s for six furlongs, and he crossed the line in 1m 38.70s.
Tom Albertrani commented: "That was sweet, very sweet, and a nice way for Hemsworth to break his maiden.
"He was always running easily. We thought he would race close up, but when the favourite stumbled it made sense to go on.
"I had a lot of confidence in this colt, though we did not see what he was capable of on his first and second starts. He has a lot of talent.
"The Nashua Stakes was a good opportunity because it was always likely to be small field.
"We will probably ship Hemsworth to Florida now, regrouping and focusing on a three-year-old campaign which could take in Kentucky Derby trials."
